My grandfather was a justice of the peace in utah….he LIVED the wild west and in an account I read about him online, he killed a squirrel and used it’s tail for a fly.
I have squirrel tails in my arsenal – both red and gray. The hair is called on for the wings on a few streamer and wet fly patterns.
